Epirus

Went on an epic road trip around northern Greece this summer.

The first part was in Epirus.

I wrote about it on my site here

http://worldofkemp.com/epirus/

From places to talk to the dead, to the deepest gorge in the world, to lakes full of dragons high up on mountain tops, to guarded borders... It was an incredible trip.

As ever, would love to hear from anyone with similar experience or view on the great diamerisma of Epirus!

Thanks Ajaxmonkey!

I agree - Greece isn't all about beaches and sun. I never knew it had such incredible mountains and wilderness. What an amazing place.

The view behind Drakolimni, on top of Mt Gamila, down on the Pindos range could easily be the great sight in the whole of Greece...

(articles on our trip further into Western and Central Maceodnia to come!)

Nothing wrong with beaches of course but if you want to experience the real Greece you have to go to the mountains. That's where the spirit of the place is still alive.
