anti german hate in greece hits unknown levels

A Psychic?

Here we are. In the 21st century and most people still don't understand how something as simple as fiat currency works. Even though the concept originated in the late middle ages.

except this currency would actually be backed by something. Not just a flat currency that a government decides is worth whatever they come up with.

GAWD we need more actual greek people on this forum

The mayor of London / Boris Johnson said in an interview today that greece has to eat the german medice, no matter how bitter it tastes. They must change and lose something of their greek mentality and become a littler bit more german. Other wise greece will fall into total chaos.

he also said  ... "and I remembered how the Delian league had evolved from a brotherhood of sovereign states into an Athenian empire."

then i see some headlines ...

Spain follows Greece as anti-austerity parties sweep local election

Poland presidential vote augurs ill for EU relations

Survey: Nearly 70 Percent of Poles Oppose Adoption of Euro

Portugal's opposition Socialists vow to wind back austerity

jee wizz .. i guess a whole lot more people that are not happy about the new empire in formation

then we have

U.S. likely to put pressure on EU at G7 to deal with Greece

jee wizz 2.0 ... i guess its a whole lot of "Complicated" that has been added to the ingredients of the Donauwelle recipe

No it has not. All the countries you named are weak and small. The only one that matters in the slightest is france. And france follows germany in evry direction. You should remember what happened last time when the right radicals ruled in poland and the new Lisboa treaty was "negotiated". Poland said it will vote against it and Merkel simply ignored them and pushed it through against their will.

USA on the other hand is irrelevant and impotent in such issues since merkel never does what she does not see as right. Since years the obama administration blames germany to have a too high export surplus and puts pressure on germany regarding this. Merkel did the exact oppossite and pushed the export surplus on new records.

You dont realize one simple thing, we hold the money, all the budget dreams of all other EU nations depend on our agreement. And with that, we dictate our model on ours, Which is a sucess. There is a reason why merkels nickname is Madama Non. There is a famous quote from merkel regarding austerity, she said: " alot of european leaders are against her in this issue, but she doesn't care, because she knows she is right."

If you believe the largest european industrial power changes politics because some ewoks demand it, then you are wrong.

You forget one simple aspect: you can do all the polics you want. You can end austerity today. But use your own money to do so.

Its the main reason why we enjoy Syriza so much. As they were elected they made all funny claims and tried to isolate germany, which is laughable. And now we execute an example on them. We let syriza starve and one pompous project of greece implodes after another. It is kinda funny to watch from outside. Syriza promised pensioners a 13th pension and now fears it wont be able to pay pensions next month. Syriza said it wont sell harbors and airports. They are forced to do so now. They started as a patriotic storm and end as a fart now.

That said you should get rid of your illussion that the EU is equal and democratic. We do what we want and we do it because we are right. Countries who can't count till ten have no say in this.

you seriously need to catch a wake up dude - the global chess game is waaaaayyy more complicated than that simplicity you like to demonstrate soooo profusely, and yet inadequately

as one commentator said ....

Having lived in Germany for as long as I have, and will continue to, I wonder why the American taxpayer should pay ANY money that benefits a country as relatively rich as Germany, especially considering the myriad of problems the US faces today and will continue to be faced with. As an anecdotal example, the US taxpayer is paying for Germany to be able to put healthy and able 27 year old males on the dole (Herz IV) because they simply may not want to work, staying on the computer all day, smoking. It's called the welfare vs. warfare debate, and Germany pays almost nothing for its own security and defense today.

I hear alot of butthurt in your words. Why so angry that we made europe our empire?

Chancellor Merkel said it in a recent speech quite right. Germany is in Europe what USA is in the world. The EU is a german empire and evry political analyst see it that way:

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peteroborne/100098260/this-crisis-will-give-germany-the-empire-its-always-dreamed-of/

http://www.socialeurope.eu/2013/03/germany-has-created-an-accidental-empire/

This article here sums it up:

http://blogs.reuters.com/john-lloyd/2014/08/22/europe-bows-to-germany-merkel-and-that-might-be-a-good-thing/

That germany has become the hegemon of europe is simply a natural way of things.

Europe has many culture but only one is hard and believes in power. Germany is the backbone of europe.

Just look at greece. What has greece to offer? Tasty food, funny music and cool beaches. Thats all nice things but doesn´t impress anyone in the world.

The greeks get some german values now. For example we teach them how to work. Greece will be better when we are done with it. And pathetic weaklish bla bla won´t save it.

Their stupid crying about poverty makes me sick. If they have no money they should go work. If they cant find a job there they must go elsewhere.

But thats exactly the reason you don´t understand. You believe sad stories and fate makes my heart melt. Thats not the case. Infact it achieves the direct oppossite.

I will tell you something. The fate of your people doesn´t matter for me personal nor does anyone in germany care for them. We have a program and a goal and sad stories of your people will not make us change its goal or target numbers,.

Its a lesson we teach you now. Too follow a path. Don´t be so emotional. If you believe you can compete in the 21st century, in a globalized world with this southern european bullshit, then you are mistaken.

I'm an ethnic Pontian width Greek nationality.

You do understand the difference between ethnicity and nationality don't you?

After all, there are plenty of ethnic Albanians, Pomaks, Turks or Gypsies with Greek Nationality and I don't see you urging them to make up their mind. Would you make them abandon their ethnic identity in favor of Greek nationality?

Is the bread you buy with your money fake?

I think not. You can buy real things with it and that makes it REAL.

The volume of a fiat currency is proportional to the sum of the goods and services produced by the economy that issues the currency. It is in other words a promise on goods and services to be deliverer. The value of it is determined by the trust of the markets in the ability of the issuer to deliver on that promise. And that trust is based on the track record of the issuer. Is this to difficult to grasp?

If you dont want others to dominate your nation you should have worked harder. Greece became what it is now because its own mistakes. So dont cry me a river.

No. You don't get it.

I'm a resident alien in the US just as I have been a resident alien in Germany, Ireland, Spain, France and Italy. And down the road I'm gonna be a resident alien in Japan. I'm not moving across the world for the money but for the experience. Of course, I could fill out an application and obtain American citizenship in no time but if I were to do that I would call myself an American and nothing else. I'm not looking to have citizenship with all the rights and obligations this entails in every country I ever lived. To how many commonwealths can you pledge alligiance and still mean it?

Do you need to be an official "citizen" of a place in order to "pledge allegiance" to it (whatever this means - and I'd assume that it would mean different things to different people).

I've lived most (if not all...) of my adult life outside Greece. Even though I've kept my Greek citizenship I do not really participate in Greek elections (as I'm assuming that you're not participating either) and I haven't been part of electing Greek officials. Yet, I still love Greece and I consider it to be my home, more so than I consider Canada my home. At the same time, I love and respect Canada and Canadians (and I'm a dual Greek/Canadian citizen).

Do I ever call myself Canadian? Barely ever.

Am I really a Canadian national? On paper yes, I am. But am I really a Canadian national? I don't think so... Even though based on my lifestyle most Greeks would most likely see me as a Canadian/American I will never really become a "true" Canadian national because I'll always remain Greek at heart.

Canada is my adopted country, and as you said, a few years down the road I may be living in Japan or Sweden or wherever and call that my adopted country. Would I ever call my self Canadian or Japanese or Swedish? Not really.

Would I love and pledge allegiance to my adopted country? Absolutely. If I chose to live somewhere for whatever reasons (be it financial reasons, or because I appreciate their political system, or because I like their culture etc.) then I become a part of the mosaic which defines any country I live in.

I love Canada and Greece equally. Even though I chose Canada to be my home (while it was just luck of the draw that I was born Greek), I still have a special place in my heart for Greece. No matter how many years I live away from her Greece will always be home to me.

I assume you took the Canadian oath of citizenship:

I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen.

So let me ask you,

do you bear true alligiance to your Queen?

The very same Queen who had "Your Cypriot Brothers" Palikarides, Karaolis and Dimitriou hanged?

How do you deal with your Macedonian-Canadian compatriots?

Are you preaching the Greek mantra to them? Or do you denigrate them by questioning the Macedonian part of their identity?

Or perhaps you dont take your oath seriously?

i get it perfectly

i merely wanted to point out that your allegation about "You chose to live there. You chose to throw your lot in with the Zambians" is nothing but a whole lot of air blown out of where the sun dont shine and that does NOT equate to nationality, which is nothing but a convenience that both "parties" agree upon Think, - and i know this from direct relos that are heavily involved in the shipping industry - a shit load of greek shipping magnates have many of their ships flying the liberian, panamanian and god knows what else flag ... and yet those ships have never been there ... ever

as for me ...born in africa ..i'ts not like i had a choice..... grew up in africa ... like i had a choice (pft!) .... did my higher education in africa ... not like i had a choice ...well ...sort off ... etc etc etc -and zambia had no choice but to give me citizenship , according to their own laws and regulations. and because i was born in northern rhodesia, then, i have every right to british citizenship, if i so wished. I married a southafrican, and according to their laws, i have every right to a south african citizenship, if i so wished. and of course, to say the least, my parents are greek, they registered me in greece, and as such i have every right for greek citizenship, the moment i want it

point is ... citizenship, and nationality tied up with that, very often means diddly squat ... not always...but certainly very often ...

but what makes it really interesting is that you imply that you have "pledged allegiance" to greece for that nationality you bare on your shoulders ,and that you took your oath seriously ... and yet you ...and all the rest

;)

So you are a Zambian national by birth. Why do you get all worked up when I call you that?

And NO I've not taken an oath of alligiance to become a Greek Citizen because I was born in Greece to parents who were also born there.

I tοοκ an oath when I did my (greatly reduced) millitary service though

Your word means nothing then. Is that right?

Don't worry this is apparently the sad norm in Greece.

I only brought this up because eyo said something about "being a whore" a few posts back so I wonder to whom that may apply!
