  1. Happy New Year!

Not declaring I am back, but a few things kept me away.

    1) I had a bad job second half of 2015, got a new job that turned out to be for a terrible company, Oct of 2017 landed a good job at a mostly good company, but busy at work

    2) We Americans elected a racist, sexist, corrupt, idiot... for president, it has diverted my attention a bit

    3) More life stuff, a couple of extended hospital visits by mother, new puppy, kid sports, oldest kid going to college, wife getting a job, so more for me to do at home, ...

Just want to say this is my favorite one for some reason, hehehe

  3. Let me tell you one thing. as an American of Hellenic descent, I may be considered white male, but that is NOT why I VOTED TRUMP. As previously mentioned by others, prior administrations, cared about global issues leaving domestic issues fester. Children going hungry, homeless dying on the streets, infrastructure crumbling, while spending billions in international "adventures" of their own creation. They would demonize a situation or a leader by using their lapdog press, and use this information as a pretext for interventions.

We heard that story many times and we have waken up. Time to let a NON politician give it a try. He said all the right things, and the people believed. I just hope it was not a siren song.

I have listened to him talk for 10 to 15 years prior, and found him to be genuine and honest. He speaks his mind, regardless the consequences.

Most politicians ar from poor backgrounds and have to consider ther after the politicking lives, which makes them vulnerable to being bought. He is a billionaire. You can't buy buy him for a few miserly millions.

    Honest? Are you kidding me?

NEVER have I seen a politician lie so much, never.

He was the worst politician out of the 15 running from the Republican side, and there were some horrendous candidates as well as some good ones.

  4. Simply put there are too many Islands, Greece simply can not build a fence in as it did on its land border. The crap i read so far from Patrick and Ajax blow my mind.

Patrick you are a hateful ignorant idiot, and for those on this site that have known me for 8+ years, know that I do not easily throw insults. But dude you are a cancer to this site.

Ajax I do not know how someone as well educated and travelled like you can be as hateful and ignorant. And at times I am not sure if you believe some of the crap you say. in th 7-8 pages of crap I read, one or both of you suggested that Greece should try to protect its balkan borders and keep the refugees in Greece, the country in dire economical trouble that has for the most part been left alone to deal with the problem, and they should lock them in Greece, are you both on drugs? And if you think the few Euros and boats are help that the EU sent is anything  to brag about, you have to be on drugs.

Patrick get used to the refugees, because more are coming to Western Europe the price for sitting on your hands in a wealthy nation, while all the shit was hitting the fan in Syria. And as long as Assad and ISIS exists, they will come. I have been laughing here in the states as so idiot EU nations have been throwing away money to Turkey.

  5. The tide changes. Media now report only negative about so called "refugees" and even police speaks out against them. Something big will happen soon.

So called "refugees", wholly cow, how ignorant are you seriously. With Assad, ISIS Al Nusra, ...  so called refugees, how dense is your head. Oh wait you seen some healthy syrian males, you understand that there are no good options there beside the Kurds, because both Assad and ISIS have targeted the moderates, even the Russians have mostly focused on the moderates, to give the world 2 choices , their puppet Assad or the terrorists.

I briefly took a look at the thread you started

  6. Friend of Greece, you are right, clean energy is another great option for Greece, especially with ann the sun Greece gets, and all the wind in the Aegean sea.

Software is an easy export, you can create it anywhere in the world and just ship it using the web to anyplace in seconds. In the last large corporation I worked for, most Greek-Americans  worked in the IT department, the talent exists here and in Greece.

I also wish that rich Greek-Americans would step up, but more so rich Greeks, the best way to help would be creating jobs.

Unfortunately, I did not come from money, so I am stuck in the rat race, still paying my student loans 18 years after graduation, mortgage, ... you get the idea. I wish I could go back and create some jobs.

The other thing missing is reform in Greece to make it really easy to start a new businesses. Some reform has started but not enough!

  7. IMO the best export possibility for Greece is IT services, the talent is there, but the infrastructure and promotion is lacking.

A possible smart move would be to create mini silicon valleys on some of the larger Islands, and not only create jobs for Greeks but also do it in a way that some of the smartest IT minds go work there to make up for the brain drain that has occurred the past 5+ years.

The challenge with many of the exports and industries Greece has focused on are not huge money makers. You can only make so much off tomatoes, olives, ....

The tourism industry is great to create jobs and bring in foreign capital, but the jobs the industry creates are low wage jobs and many of them are seasonal.

Shipping Industry to a large extend has not created as many jobs as they claim, the ships are full of workers from third world countries, huge % of the ships fly a non-Greek flag, and the Ship industry has worked hard to prevent the industry from paying fair taxes.

Greece needs to invest and try to develop services and products in the technology field, it seems hard to imagine this for a few people, but it is a field that is constantly changing with lots of innovation.

  8. The real losers are the Syrian people. The shooting down of a plane will not solve anything, if the Turks said from the beginning that it was about protecting the Turkmen, that is one thing, they claim they were protecting their air space, that's bull.

Saudis, UAE, Turkey and Iran are caught in a religious (ignorant) war and don't give a shit about the people, the EU has no balls, the US broke it and wont buy it, and Russia from the beginning is only concerned with keeping a nasty wont buy it puppet dictator in power.

This is just a sample of proof.

The sunni arab countries are more concerned with attacking shiites in Yemen than ISIS. And I am sure plenty of Saudis are donating money to ISIS.

Russia is propping up Assad and ISIS by attacking all the non-ISIS rebels.

The EU is just watching genocides and hope someone does something about it.

Obama FP is weak, I voted for the guy over the idiots the republican party keeps nominating, but what the f already.

China some super power they are, nothing but self serving assholes like most super powers.

And our friends the Turks, are simply looking to: 1) prevent any Kurdish gains 2) watch sunnis gain more power 3) influence... One of the most hypocritical nations out there.

    what a f-ing mess

    http://dailycaller.com/2015/11/24/turkey-violated-greek-airspace-2244-times-last-year-fires-at-russia-for-doing-it-once/

    On a separate note

    http://www.todayszaman.com/business_turkish-tourism-to-be-first-victim-of-russian-jet-crisis_405178.html

    More Russian tourists for Greece!

  9. Patrick no matter how you dice it, German companies have been cheating, bending the rules, paying bribes, ... Eventually shit piles up to high, and there is a price to pay.

Texas is another US state where the idiots outnumber the smart ones. Even if the 96-99% of scientists are wrong about global warming, you have to be 100% of an idiot not to believe that pollution is bad for us. I am OK with my US tax dollars spend to send every idiot truck driver that drives a so called "Rolling Coal" to jail for a weekend or 2.

  10. Patrick is this your way of rubbing it in, truly what is your purpose here, do you have any constructive feedback that helps Greeks or Greece, any meaningful insight.

We are all aware that the Troika is dictating to Greece what to do, especially Germany. We are also aware that Greece got in this mess by its government borrowing money from German banks to buy German goods, and as a result Merkel has just as much power in Greece as anyone of its PMs. Now rubbing it is, is not nice.
