What are some of the greatest love stories you know of?  They can be from books, movies, true life or just old fashioned story telling.

here is a small list to start:

Titanic
Gone with the wind
Romeo and Juliet
Cinderella
Beauty and the Beast
The notebook
Ghost

:rofl :rofl :rofl

couldn't resist that one

but on a serious note
what about ..... Love Story http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066011/

actually, one of my all time favorite "chick movies" is "A Walk In The Clouds"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114887/
(maybe though its more to do with ..... hell....you have to see it to see how it sooooo much relates to many of the Greek mentalities, even though it takes place in a Mexican/Spanish wine making estate. I could totally relate to it on so many levels)

eyoismos,  why are 'love stories' considered as chic flicks?

I have seen "a walk in the clouds"  loved the grape crushing scene... have you noticed most great love stories have sad endings?

because "traditionally" love is an emotion which chicks just ....go for it....as opposed to guys are into action, thriller and anything else that gets the adrenaline going (note the word adrenaline...its root has the word "andras" for a reason - hehehehe)

which is probably why I enjoyed "a walk in the clouds" so much - it has the sense of "positive accomplishment" as apposed to most other love stories, where its primary motivation is "bring on the tears"..... such a chick thing (bring it on jen....he he he he....I'm bracing myself for more.......gender on gender violence)

"Life is Beautiful" is a really touching love story. It's really much more than just a love story.

Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" is also very touching. More of a "social" commentary than a love story of course...

I also found the "Memoirs of a Geisha" very interesting.
