Hi everyone i was born in england to greek cypriot parents, i am a proud greek and love greece.eventhough im originally from cyprus i count greece as my country because at the end of the day we are all greek, 3 thousand years of greek history in cyprus will not be forgotten.

Greetings! I am happy to have found this forum, I have so many questions to ask about my, well, Greekness. I'm in the US, and my family mainly came here in the scattered fashion that most Greek families probably did, but fairly early (starting in the 1880s), so I'm extremely removed from the old country, as it were. Most of my family were from Asia Minor, a few from Crete and Lesbos. I just know very little, but apparently look "fresh off the boat", and my name is as Greek as can be.

My modern Greek is PATHETIC, but I did study ancient in college, though that is very rusty. I'm relatively obsessed with The Iliad and Greek mythology (well, the ancient world in general), which has little to do with my actually BEING Greek.

I always want to learn more about Greeks from Asia Minor, and it's rare to find (in English) resources outside of either ancient times or of the 1920s, and found this site by the fabulous interview with Diamanda Galas, who I have been a fan of for years. I'm not interested in this topic (Mikrasian Greeks) in a political or controversial way, btw, it just intrigues me that my heritage is one of diaspora.
