We recently received a message from IFPI Greece (ΕΝΩΣΗ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ ΠΑΡΑΓΩΓΩΝ ΗΧΟΓΡΑΦΗΜΑΤΩΝ) asking us to stop allowing the free and illegal exchange of songs and music albums through our forum.
As a result we are forced to censor all links pointing to music download portals (like Rapidhsare). As you'll see all *censored by IFPI* links will now show the message "censored by IFPI".

Below is the original message we received from IFPI Greece:

Yet, in your effort to do so, it seems that you broke some rules. In your forum area you have included a music section, where it seems that various users send posts concerning Greek phonograms, escorted by links to external services (in most of the cases cyberlockers like *censored by IFPI*), where unauthorised copies of the phonograms are illegally stored and from where they can be downloaded and redistributed. I understand that you will probably decline of any liability regarding your forum members' practices. Yet, you probably understand that such a claim is unsound and does not discharge you from your administrating duties. Being an IT Manager, you surely have ways of limiting such illegal activities, and I expect you will do so upon receiving my letter. I therefore expect you to remove all links included in the music posts and take measures to restrict such actions in the future. IFPI Greece will continue to monitor your website, and will have no alternative but to proceed to any appropriate actions, in case we observe that infringement of our rights continues. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. |

as if ...
but then.....the idea of killing part of the link with a big "warning sign" shouting "censored" is going to make IFPI happy
but then..... who knows..... maybe they are selectively naive enough (or completely out and out stupid )and "hit" on a minor forum but leave the "big boys" get away with it all
kind reminds me of greek politics

if anything the IFPI's efforts are just pathetic
they rather chase, supposedly, all those unknowns on the net....while leaving those in your face "retailers", for want of a better word, on every street corner in greece, multiply like rats in a sewage
a mate of mine just came back from kefalonia and he told me....there i was.....in this tiny village....and there is this nigerezo selling cds......happened to go to another horio.....and there is the same guy, with one of his mates, also from nigeria, both pushing his wares
he said half jokingly.......i kept on seeing them everywhere in zambia, so i come to greece....and they followed me here
so i ask him....."you must be a good client"
his answer? ..... "e...ti na kanoume"

i wonder........what do they actually mean by "monitor"........?
let me guess......we are under observation...?
ouaou!this is the first time it happens(specially on the web)(where everybody can see every single click!)
let me imagine the next "reasonable"excuse somebody can configure to "observe" me..... 
and here is the question.............. HOW CAN IFPI (OR ANYONE ELSE) "MONITOR" ANY SITE....? DO THEY HAVE THE APROPRIATE(LEGAL)PERMISSION TO PROVIDE ANY EVIDENCE(FOUND MAYBE HERE)TO ANY COURT?
IS THIS ACTION CALLED "SPYING"(WELL....NOT EXACTLY,BUT IT IS AT LEAST AGAINST THE LAW OF THE PERSONAL RIGHTS)
SO.....is this monitoring LEGAL enough?
